Escuela Sustentable, Uruguay

In February/March 2016 Earthship Biotecture took a crew and drew in 120 academy students to build a public primary school in Juareguiberry, a small coastal town in Uruguay.  The project was put together by TAGMA, a small group of passionate young Uruguayans.  The 120 students were split into 2 groups, English and Spanish speaking, and worked 3 days a week each on site, and had 3 days of lectures and tutorials on Earthship design. Over the course of 6 weeks we built the school, and by the time the last crew members left the site the greenhouse was planted out, the front garden was landscaped and there were colourful murals on the walls of the classrooms which were already bustling with excited Uruguayan children.
